Bio:
Tere Blanca is the President and CEO of Blanca Commercial Real Estate, and a former Senior Managing Director at Cushman & Wakefield of Florida, Inc. She also serves as Chair of City Year Miami, is a member of the Board of Directors of BankUnited, and a member of the World Presidents’ Organization (WPO) Miami-Ft. Lauderdale Chapter. She is a former Chair of The Beacon Council, Miami’s official economic development agency and a member of the University of Miami Real Estate Advisory Board.
Innovating in Field of Work:
• Tere saw the real estate downturn as an opportunity to launch her firm, and capture a significant market share by providing a uniquely personalized and customized approach to serve clients’ needs.
• She was the first Hispanic woman to serve as chair in Miami-Dade’s Beacon Council’s history.
Impact:
In 2013, she was a “Top 25 Women in Real Estate” by Commercial Property Executive; 2010’s “Women of Influence” by Real Estate Forum, 2010’s “Top Dealmakers of the Year” by the Daily Business Review, one of 2009 “Most Influential Business Women” and in 2007, an “Ultimate CEO” by the South Florida Business Journal.
Role Model:
In addition to raising two children and running her own real estate firm, Tere is Chair of City Year Miami, where she is working towards helping City Year Miami rapidly scale its program to close the gap in high-poverty communities and increase graduation rates among students. She also is an active member of CREW-Miami (Commercial Real Estate Women), and she routinely mentors young women who aspire to cultivate successful careers in commercial real estate.
Reinvention / Risk / Momentum:
Tere left her Senior Managing Director position at Cushman & Wakefield, one of the world’s largest commercial real estate firms, to launch her own boutique firm during the U.S. recession. Today she has expanded her firm to 13 professionals and has achieved consistently for the firm to be consistently recognized by South Florida Business Journal as one of the top 25 commercial real estate firms South Florida.
