Bio:
Mitchell is a co-founder and partner of Scale Venture Partners, investors in early-in-revenue tech companies ready to scale. She has been key to building the firm’s team and determining its strategic direction. She also co-authored the IPO section of the 2012 JOBS Act and remains involved in policy matters affecting entrepreneurship, diversity, start-ups and innovation. Mitchell is a commentator on technology trends for CNBC Squawk Alley and is a member of the NASDAQ Private Market Advisory Board.
Disruption:
As a co-founder, Mitchell is most proud of ScaleVP’s investments in game-changing companies such as ExactTarget (Salesforce), Vitrue (Oracle), RingCentral (NYSE:RNG), DocuSign, and Box (NYSE:BOX). In addition, the JOBS Act introduced the novel concept of “confidential filing” for US issuers which is now used in most IPOs. She is now working to “disrupt” and improve the ratio of women & minorities in venture capital and technology.
Mentorship:
Mitchell is an active advisor to individual entrepreneurs and aspiring venture capitalists. She currently serves as a Kauffman Fellows mentor and is a Toigo Foundation supporter. In addition, she takes advantage of opportunities to share her expertise with the next generation of leaders through counseling, program development and numerous speaking engagements. Mitchell’s top priority is the development of exceptional women, minorities, and individuals outside the current venture centers who hold so much promise for the venture ecosystem and the US economy.
What’s Next:
Mitchell would like to continue to identify and back extraordinary innovations in enterprise software while helping these companies scale and become the leaders in their fields. At this stage of her career, Mitchell is also focused on channeling her resources to help pave the way for the next generation of leaders. She places a particular emphasis on increasing opportunities for diverse founders and venture capitalists.
The era I’m most interested in understanding is the future, because the best is yet to come.
